Formulation and Colloidal Chemistry

Our expertise comes from over 50 combined years of hands-on industrial experience in chemical formulation design resulting in dozens of products in the semiconductor and coatings industries and that includes colloidal and surfactant chemistry, nanoparticle
dispersion and stability and interpretation of data resulting from characterization techniques including zeta potential, surface tension, rheology, adsorption isotherms for small molecules, surfactants and polymers on particle surfaces as well as contact angle and critical micelle analysis.

Expertise in performance testing for CMP slurries and cleaning formulations as well as performance testing for mechanical and corrosion-resistant properties of coatings. Experience in aqueous and non-aqueous formulations. All formulations designs are based on first principle mechanistic understanding and the
structure-properties correlations with the desired performance.

Polymer Synthesis and Characterization

Our expertise comes from over 30 combined years of hands-on industrial experience in polymer synthesis and characterization. Expertise in chain growth polymerizations including radical, living radical, cationic and anionic polymerizations of acrylic and related monomers and cyclic siloxane polymerization as well as step growth polymerization including epoxies, polyurethanes, polysiloxanes, polyesters and polyamides. Small molecule and monomer synthesis experience includes organic molecules via transesterification and hydrosilylation, main group silicon and phosphorus compounds in addition to organometallic complexes and coordination chemistry of copper, cobalt, tungsten, molybdenum, titanium, bismuth and tin.

Characterization techniques include significant expertise in running and interpreting NMR, FTIR, UV-Vis, GC-MS, GPC, DSC, TGA, DMA, dielectric spectroscopy and many others.

Nanotechnology and Semiconductors

Our expertise includes nearly 35 years of combined industrial experience in the semiconductor market in CMP and wet etch chemistry, mechanisms and processes. We are recognized experts in the field with over 10 invited lectures and tutorials at semiconductor conferences and major manufacturers.

We are experts in nanoparticle structure, surface chemistry and properties including silica, ceria, alumina, titania and
zirconia particles and their interactions with various metallic and dielectric surfaces that are important to the semiconductor industry as well as analytical methods such as DLS,
zeta potential, solution rheology and adsorption isotherms. We are experts in particle defectivity and defect removal as well as corrosion testing including interpreting electrochemistry such as Tafel, impedance spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry.

Particle-Surface Characterization

Our expertise includes many years of analysis of surface films (metals, metal oxides and dielectrics) and mechanisms of interactions of particles with surfaces.

Our expertise includes interpretation of surface analysis methods such as XPS, Raman, SEM-EDX, AFM, streaming potential, white light interferometry, ellipsometry, multi-solvent/component contact angle, TOF-SIMS, ATR-FTIR and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
